The action includes the preparation of several studies (Hydrological and Hydraulic, Land Survey, Structural design of the reservoir, Electromechanical design of pumping stations and firefighting systems, Landscaping planning) for a well-designed and integrated stormwater drainage network in the Gerovouno area of Kamatero.

This system will channel rainwater into the Pyrgos Vassilissis Stream, which flows the area’s flood protection. The management of stormwater through potential storage reservoirs will ensure the continuous supply of water to the wetlands of the park. This integrated stormwater reuse approach is considered a best practice, though rarely implemented in Greece.

Problem Addressed: The justification for conducting the studies lies in the fact that water storage is important for the implementation of environmentally significant projects as well as for firefighting purposes. Additionally, the overall management and utilization of stormwater runoff is crucial for water resource conservation. The project's goal is to drain stormwater and address flooding issues in the Gerovouno area of Kamatero, while also tackling the problem of water scarcity in the Park.
