AdaptPorts

AdaptPorts aims to develop an Action Plan for integrating climate adaptation policies into ports by introducing innovative tools to prioritize adaptation measures. The project, through the analysis of primary data from five case study ports and the application of machine learning methods in an additional pilot port, examines port adaptability and develops modern tools for assessing both environmental and economic impacts.. Aligned with international and European policy, the project directly supports the objectives of the National  Adaptation Strategy (NAS).

ClimEMPOWER

ClimEmpower aims to address critical need for available and actionable climate information in the socio-economically vulnerable areas of South and Southeast Europe. Recognizing that climate risk is a function of hazard, exposure, and vulnerability, the project focuses on reducing these components by enhancing climate literacy and the availability of knowledge.

ClimEmpower focuses on EU regions with low or declining GDP per capita and significant potential climate change impacts, with limited ability to address them. It tackles gaps in the availability and usability of climate data, identifies relevant climate impact and resilience indicators, and simplifies access to climate data by developing user-friendly applications.

ClimEmpower offers information and resources in order to tackle climate change and its impacts ensuring that its results benefit these regions.

ICARIA

The ICARIA project aims to utilize asset-level modeling to gain deeper insight into climate-related impacts caused by complex, cascading, and compound disasters,  and the possible risk reduction provided by suitable, sustainable and cost-effective adaptation solutions. It focuses in both critical assets and infrastructure components at regional level.
Climate scenarios will be designed and implemented by trials and mini-trials in three regions (namely Barcelona, the South Aegean, and Austria), to assess the costs and benefits of adaptation solutions. It seeks to create a standardized framework for projecting climate-related hazards, addressing exposure, vulnerabilities, and uncertainties, while bridging data gaps using physics-informed and data-driven methodologies.

CARDIMED

CARDIMED introduces a framework to build Climate Resilience in the Mediterranean biogeographical region, efficiently unifying individual efforts of regions and communities across different countries and continents. This will be achieved by developing a digital infrastructure to harmonise the data collection and evaluation processes, providing open data to all the stakeholders involved in the Nature-based Solutions (NBS) value chain and integrating crucial  functions for Climate Resilience. Among these functions, smart digital tools for citizen participation and capacity building will supplement an ambitious multi-stakeholder engagement strategy, focused on knowledge translation and impact pathways. Furthermore, holistic modelling tools introducing the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus approach will provide comprehensive knowledge on the complex NBS interfaces, that will decisively contribute to addressing socio-ecological challenges, along with issues of valuation and low-investment rate in NBS. These actions will be implemented across 9 demonstration sites, composed of 10 regions, 20 locations and 28 communities, and comprising 47 NBS that directly relate to 83 interventions and supporting units that tackle climate change and circularity challenges. The consolidation of the demonstrating regions and communities will establish the CARDIMED Resilience Alliance, that will function as the vehicle for expanding the network via upscaling the existing sites and adding new ones.

LIFE-IP AdaptInGR

The integrated LIFE-IP AdaptInGR project  addresses climate change adaptation in Greece. It aims to enhance the implementation of the National Adaptation Strategy and the 13 Regional Adaptation Plans during the current adaptation cycle (2016–2025) and prepare the transition to the next policy cycle (2026+), with targeted actions at national, regional, and local levels.

Pathways2Resilience

Pathways2Resilience aims to enhance climate resilience across  Europe by supporting 100 regions and communities to create tranformative climate resilience strategies through an ambitious learning programme.  Moving beyond traditional risk reduction projects, it adopts a systemic approach aligned with the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change and European Green Deal, to intergrate climate resilience with Europe’s economic and social development. The initiative will provide €21M across three open call cycles to support regional climate resilience efforts, develop a Regional Resilience Journey framework, and foster citizen and stakeholder engagement. Led by Climate KIC, the consortium unites experts in adaptation innovation, finance, capability building, and impact monitoring to drive long-term change.
