GSEU – A Geological Service for Europe: Coastal Vulnerability Assessment and Climate Change Adaptation
Greece participates in the European project GSEU – A Geological Service for Europe through the Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (HSGME), which coordinates Work Package 5 (WP5) – Coastal Vulnerability Assessment and Optimized Offshore Windfarm Siting.
WP5 addresses issues directly related to coastal vulnerability and climate change adaptation, including sea-level rise, vertical ground motion, long-term shoreline changes, and the assessment of pressures and risks affecting European coastal areas. Geological and hydrogeological datasets, maps, models and decision-support tools are developed and applied to improve the understanding of coastal vulnerability and support the design of measures aimed at strengthening the resilience and climate adaptation of coastal areas.
